Interval yang lebih lebar dari satu oktaf (9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, dll).
Penjelasan
Compound interval = simple interval + oktaf. Misalnya: 9th = octave + 2nd, 10th = octave + 3rd, 11th = octave + 4th, 13th = octave + 6th. Dalam konteks chord extension, compound interval memberi warna yang berbeda dari simple interval meskipun pitch class-nya sama — 9th terdengar lebih 'terbuka' dari 2nd.
Contoh
- C4 → D5 = major 9th (compound major 2nd)
- C4 → E5 = major 10th (compound major 3rd)
